Newbern Middle School's Field Trip to Mercer

     A group of 8th graders from Newbern Middle School was treated to a college tour field trip on October 24th, 2009.  The field trip was sponsored by IAMAS, INC., a nonprofit organization aimed at mentoring students in the area of academics.  The students arrived on the Mercer campus and were treated to lunch in the dining hall.  Afterwards, they received a tour of the university. During the afternoon, the students participated in several breakout seminars where they learned about preparing for college, goal setting, researching colleges and universities, and strategies for paying for college.  Fun was had by all! The students were chaperoned by Shenell Collier (NMS teacher and IAMAS Co-founder) and Janice Freeman (parent).
