On Friday, December
4th, 5th grade students
from WG Nunn Elementary
attended the student
performance of the
Valdosta Symphony
Orchestra. Music
teachers, Mrs. Sue Ellen
Rumstay and Susan
Brashier arranged the
annual trip to VSU's
Whitehead Auditorium.
The Symphony's new music
director, Mr. Howard Hsu
and the 75 piece
orchestra presented
several pieces from
composers Wolfgang
Mozart and Gustav
Mahler. Four WGN
students with "stage
passes" had the honor of
sitting on stage during
the performance. To
develop further
interest, Mr. Hsu
entertained students
with interesting musical
and instrumental
techniques. Guest
soloist, Ms. Tamara
Hardesty, performed
several pieces
that showcased her
beautiful soprano voice.
Following the program,
students had the
opportunity to question
Mr. Hsu about the
orchestra, instruments
and his career. Students
were delighted to learn
that Mr. Hsu and Ms.
Hardesty are husband and
wife. /bigger>/bigger>/color>/fontfamily>
Thank you Valdosta
Symphony Orchestra,
Executive Director Dr.
