JL Lomax awarded
$10,000 Goody's Good Deed for Schools grant
JL Lomax is one of
fifty schools that has been awarded with a
$10,000 grant as part of Goody's Good Deeds for
Schools program. Why do we offer these
grants to our communities? "Giving back to
the community, letting everyone know they hey,
we are a part of this community too," said Alex
Thomas, manager of the Valdosta Goody's store.
Jennifer Lukens and Susan Roberson have been
working all year on the JL Lomax outdoor
classroom. Their students are benefiting
from the experience in more ways than one.
First and foremost they are seeing the entire
life cycle of plants and some insects as well as
being able to take home fresh vegetables to
their families.
The
money from the grant will be used to buy more
gardening tools and plants, flowers and supplies
in hopes to attract more butterflies to the new
butterfly garden.
