Valdosta High School/Valdosta City Schools announces summer school schedule

Valdosta High School extends an invitation to any student who may need to regain lost credits from any local high school.  VHS will also be offering a new credit course (1/2 credit)  in Driver’s Education and Drug/Alcohol Awareness which will comply with the new driving requirements under Joshua’s Law that assists students to meet the requirements for obtaining a Class D provisional license.  ADAP cards will be issued which are required for students to obtain a drivers license.  Students completing the Drivers Education Course may be eligible for insurance discounts and a possible $175.00 tax credit.  Check with your insurance company and accountant.  Each course is worth ½ credit. VHS summer school is SACS accredited and Carnegie units will be awarded for passed courses.

Applications for summer school courses and the new credit driver’s education course may be downloaded on the school website at www.gocats.org – click on schools, click on Valdosta High and click on the link to summer school. Registration will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd and Wednesday June 4th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center Lobby at Valdosta High.

To register, students need a transcript indicating the courses that are failed, the home school’s code, the registration form from the website and $150 cash per ½ credit course taken. (Students on block scheduling will have to take the entire course for 1 credit = $300 for the credit.)   The new credit course in driver’s education meets state mandated hours for credit and costs $175.00.  No checks or credit cards will be accepted.  Cash only.  Attendance in summer classes is required and there will be no make up days. Students who miss days will fail.

All "A" courses (the first half of the course) will be offered in the morning session.  All "B" courses (the second half of the course) will be offered in the afternoon except for math.  All "A" math courses will be offered both in the morning and afternoon during the 1st session only.  Likewise, all "B" math courses will be offered in the morning and afternoon during the 2nd session only.
