Valdosta Middle School students
study Madagascar hissing cockroaches
As part of the Diversity of Life unit, the 7th
grade students in Mrs. Cody’s Life Science class
had a chance to work with Madagascar hissing
cockroaches. After initial observations,
students read about insects and discussed their
characteristics. They then generated a list of
questions they had about the roaches. The
students observed several behavioral and
structural adaptations by exposing the roaches
to different stimuli.
