Team #7 wins 2nd
in decoration contest for West Coast
Newbern 2008
International Environmental Fair
Newbern held its
annual International Fair May 9, 2008. The theme
of the fair this year was the environment. Teams
of teachers and students collaborated to
transform their hallways into environmental
learning museums. Teams competed to present the
best decoration and information on environmental
issues for the area of the world they chose.
Students, teachers and visitors traveled from
North and South America, Africa, Australia-New
Zealand, India, Greece and the Islands of the
Caribbean.
This year students
were able to participate in several learning
experiences such as a Native American Dance
presented by Curtis Sutton (VHS), Birds & Worms,
Pass the Peas Please, How Does Your Garden
Grow?, Tree Cookies (PLT), Water Filtering
(Project Wet), and a Greek Dance (Gravlee).

Presentation Winners: Team 9 (East Coast USA),
2nd place Team 7 (West Coast USA), and Team 5
(Kenya).
