VHS Graduation Moved Indoors - New VHS Gymnasium

All graduates and guests should enter through the main entrance of VHS at 4590 Inner Perimeter Road for this evening's ceremony. Remember, graduates should arrive by 5:30 pm, doors open to public at 6:00 pm and ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00 pm. Click here to watch live (

HB 251 Transfer Period

There are 2 weeks left in the HB251 Student Transfer Request period. The deadline to apply for a transfer to another school for the upcoming school year is May 31 at 4:30. No transfer requests will be accepted after that date. Questions may be directed to Joy Jennings, (229) 671-6053.

2018-2019 School Choice: HB 251
In accordance with this 2009 state law (O.C.G.A 20-2-2131) parents/guardians may request to transfer their child to another school within the district if adequate, permanent classroom space is available at the requested school.

During the May 22, Valdosta Board of Education meeting, the retirees of 2018 were recognized. Together these outstanding men and women have spent an accumulated 542 years working with the boys and girls of our great school district.

Valdosta High School/Valdosta City Schools Announces Summer School

Valdosta High School extends an invitation to any student who may need to regain lost credits from any local high school. Each course is worth 1 credit. VHS summer school is accredited and Carnegie units will be awarded for passed courses. These units do not meet eligibility for NCAA Clearinghouse but do count for eligibility through recovery of credits. Valdosta City Schools and the Valdosta Board of Education have offered this summer learning experience to our community for over a decade.

Georgia Department of Education Awards Literacy Grants to 38 School Districts

State School Superintendent Richard Woods to visit Pinevale Elementary School to recognize school district's receipt of the L4GA grant.

State School Superintendent Richard Woods announced on May 3, that thirty-eight Georgia school districts were officially approved to be awarded the Literacy for Learning, Living, and Leading in Georgia (L4GA) grants by the Georgia Department of Education. Meghan Frick from the Georgia Department of Education wrote, "The goal of the L4GA initiative is to improve student literacy learning."

Valdosta Spring Scrimmage

The Valdosta Wildcats will play the Lowndes Vikings on May 18 at Martin Stadium in a Spring scrimmage. The game will start at 8 PM and admission will be $5 for everyone.
