VHS Offers Information on its Virtual Learning Procedures

  1. Teachers will have use of myViewBoard® which is a resource that adds the human element to virtual teaching.
  2. Students will follow their schedule and login to the class during their assigned class time.
  3. Teachers will manage both virtual learning and in person courses during the class period.
  4. Valdosta High School will distribute Chromebooks to students who have selected virtual learning the week before school starts.
  5. Assessments can be opened and closed at specific times to mitigate academic dishonesty. Teachers will be able to view their virtual students via view board during assessment times and can utilize kiosk mode in Edulastic which ends a student’s assessment if they close out of the testing screen.
  6. Every teacher will be required to have a google classroom.
  7. High school students must commit to one semester of virtual learning. The first semester ends January 21, 2021.
  8. Students are expected to complete the classes virtually during the scheduled time to be marked present. Students can complete the work after the scheduled class time, but will be marked absent. Students will have three days after their absence period to complete any missed assignments.
  9. All elective courses will be offered online.
  10. Valdosta High School students will be able to participate in dual enrollment programs following the schedule and procedures of their admitting institution.

The window to declare for virtual learning opened at midnight on July 23 and closes on Thursday, July 30 at 6:00 pm. Registration to "declare for virtual learning" must be completed electronically.

For parents who have already chosen the virtual option and have now changed their minds, it is not too late to let us know. 
 
If it is before August 6, 2020, please send an email message to jdean@gocats.org. Your request must state you wish to return to the Traditional Model and include:
  • Parent Name
  • Student’s Name
  • Student’s Grade
  • Student’s School

    After August 6, 2020, please contact your child’s school counselor the week before the end of the grading period.
