Valdosta High School Celebrates an All-Time High Graduation Rate

The Georgia Department of Education released the 2020 Cohort graduation rates for Georgia schools and districts this week. Valdosta High School’s graduation rate has continued to increase, rising to 90.47%, surpassing the state’s graduation rate of 83.8%.

“Valdosta High School’s record graduation rate can be attributed to the diligent efforts and commitment to student success by our faculty and staff at Valdosta High School,” said Principal Dr. Janice Richardson. “Equally, our students, especially the graduating class of 2020, took an invested interest in their own education and continued to work hard despite unforeseen obstacles, including the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Valdosta High implements a variety of programs to address the needs of all students.  An at-risk coordinator and graduation coaches have been employed to closely monitor the school’s at-risk student population ensuring a quality education is received and progression to graduation is achieved for all students.

“I am extremely proud of the students of Valdosta High School, and we will continue to progress in a positive direction,” said Richardson.
