Asebiomo was crowned by her sister, Tumise Asebiomo who was Miss VHS 2012. She was the final young woman crowned before the pageant took a four year hiatus.
Seventeen contestants in grades 10 through 12 competed for the crown and a $5,000 scholarship. Three students from the freshman class competed for the title of Miss Underclassman. Miss Meagan Gilstrap was crowned Miss Underclassman 2016. In the Miss VHS competition, Taylor Ward was named second runner up and Anna Rowe was named first runner up.
The crowned Miss VHS will represent VHS in various events throughout the year and must complete these duties and appearances in order to obtain the scholarship monies. The pageant is also added talent for the top 10 and an onstage question for the top 5. All contestants competed in interview, stage introduction, spirit wear and evening gown competition.
