This year our school system received awards in several categories, including Best Chapter Award for 8th District and the Silver Scroll Award.
The Best Chapter Award is presented to the district with the most participation and involvement within their chapter. The Silver Scroll award is given to the district based on five topics: community involvement, advocacy, membership, public image, and educational & professional development.
We also had two elementary schools, W.G. Nunn and S.L. Mason, win awards for increasing school breakfast participation by 3%. We had four schools that were awarded for consistently high breakfast participation: W.G. Nunn, Pinevale Elementary, J.L. Newbern Middle, and J.L. Lomax.
The Nutrition Department works diligently to assure all federal and state guidelines are met and implemented. These awards not only represent the Valdosta City School District, but our culinary managers and staff who work hard to provide healthy meals for the students.
Antionette McCoggle accepted these awards from the State President, Vanessa Hayes on behalf of Valdosta City Schools and our School Nutrition Association.
