The evening started with a presentation of the School Improvement Plan from assistant principal, Mr. Tony Burgman. He described the school’s goals for the year; to decrease the number of discipline referrals, to increase the number of students reading on grade-level , and to increase the number of students passing all four subjects. Mr. Burgman further explained that each of these goals will be attained by following specific actions, strategies, and initiatives; all which are listed within the School Improvement Plan.
After the School Improvement Plan was explained, parents were able to go to their scholars’ classrooms to work together with the teachers to learn about the grade-level expectations for the first nine weeks of the 2016-2017 school year. Parents also had the opportunity to create hands-on manipulatives to take home to assist in their child’s learning.
J.L. Lomax will continue to host Make and Take sessions throughout the school year. We welcome and invite all stakeholders to attend these events to learn about ways they can assist our scholars at home.
