Mr. and Mrs. Bob Craven travelled from Pennsylvania to the elementary school on September 25 to hand-deliver a donation to be used for the continuation of the mentoring program for student's with deployed parents. The Craven's along with friends of their late son, Scott, assisted with the breakfast club and interacted with the students during one of their regularly scheduled morning activities.
Following the breakfast, the group walked through the school and on the grounds to see the growth of the tree planted in Craven's honor and the outdoor cafe also named for their son.
Scott Craven was stationed at Moody Air Force Base when he began volunteering at Sallas Mahone Elementary School. His life was cut short by a tragic traffic accident. Several MAFB airmen continued their work with the students at the elementary school and named the mentoring club in his honor. The Craven family hosts a charity golf tournament in Pennsylvania each year to support the ongoing efforts of the mentoring group.
