For this year’s publication contest, Valdosta City Schools (VCS) director of public relations, Jennifer Steedley, submitted seven entries and won seven awards, two were recognized as “Best in Category”.
Valdosta City Schools Code of Student Conduct was submitted for the the Handbook Category; receiving the Gold Award of Excellence and Best in Category. The judges provided feedback for each of the submissions and of this particular entry they said, "This Code of Student Conduct is stellar. From cover to cover, this booklet is visually appealing and easy to follow.”
In the area of website, the district website www.gocats.org was submitted; this was also awarded a Gold Award of Excellence and Best in Category. The judges said, “Outstanding website! While it is visually appealing, it is also very informative."
The 2015-16 YouTube marketing campaign, #ChooseVCS was another Gold Award of Excellence winner. "Loved, loved, loved these videos. What a wonderful gift to your community," commented the judges.
For the first time ever, VCS entered a photo in the photography category. A photo taken by school PR coordinator, Judy Whilden of Pinevale Elementary, was awarded as a Gold Award of Excellence winner. The photo was taken during Pinevale's Project D.A.D.S.
For the area of Annual Reports, Special Purpose Publication, and Social Media this year’s “VCS - Imagine the Possibilities” magazine, Facts and Figures folder and all of the social media sites received Silver Awards of Merit.
Lastly, Lowndes County Schools and Valdosta City Schools entered the special purpose publication category with the new marketing materials for the Community Partners in Education program. Together they received the Bronze Award of Merit.
