Dressed as Harriet Tubman, Ms. Napier captivated 3rd-5th grade students as she portrayed the life of the abolitionist in the first person. During the second assembly Ms. Napier donned African garb and told several traditional Nigerian folktales. K-2nd grade student and teacher volunteers "helped" Ms. Napier by acting out stories and playing traditional instruments. Ms. Napier was in Valdosta as part of the Black History Month celebration hosted by the Valdosta-Lowndes County Library and sponsored by the Friends of South Georgia Regional Libraries.
