These students recently read a story titled Cans for Habitat where they learned about the partnership between Habitat for Humanity and the Aluminum Association. The Habitat for Humanity organization takes donations of aluminum cans and uses the money they receive from recycling them to help build decent and affordable homes for families in communities all over the United States.
The students continue to be very excited about this community service project and are continuously bringing in rinsed, crushed aluminum cans from home. They hope that as other classes and schools learn about their service project, they too will want to become involved and will begin collecting cans for this great cause. According to CBS news, if every American recycled one can today, Habitat for Humanity could build 56 homes tomorrow!
