Students in Ms. Clark’s STEM Academy science class researched and designed solar ovens based on principles of conduction, convection, and radiation. Groups used common items such as cardboard boxes, duct tape, aluminum foil, and magnifying glasses in an attempt to engineer the hottest oven. Eggs, cake mix, and sausages were placed in the ovens and baking began at . Final results were taken around with the hottest oven reaching 140 degrees Fahrenheit. All students had a great time learning about the transfer of heat. No food was eaten in this experiment.
