Student entries for the YGA competition may include short stories, poetry, essays, personal narratives, or any other original student writing. The school grade-level winners were selected from approximately 100 submitted entries. Nora Anderson (Kindergarten at Sallas Mahone), DeJala Simmons (1st grade at Pinvale), Lindsay Monteer (2nd grade at Sallas Mahone), Noah Murphree (3rd grade at Sallas Mahone), Madelyn James (4th grade at Sallas Mahone), Kayla Calloway (5th grade at W.G. Nunn), Melanie Robinson (6th grade at VECA), Harper Hall (7th grade at VECA), Arliyah Smith (8th grade at VECA), Roberto Perez (9th grade at VECA), Lindsay Sebastian (10th grade at VECA), Kierra McGee (11th grade at VHS), and Alona Jones (12th grade at VHS) were chosen as the district grade-level winners and will advance to the next level. The students’ entries will be submitted to Coastal Plains Regional Educational Services Agency (RESA) for the next round of judging. If selected as the RESA level winners, the students will compete at the state level. The Valdosta City School System is proud to have so many talented winners!
