Valdosta City Schools will offer fun opportunities for your students this summer. Information and forms are below for each activity.

Valdosta High School Hires New Head Wrestling Coach

John Petty joins the Wildcat nation as the new Head Wrestling Coach. Born in South Florida, Petty would eventually switch coasts during his high school years and settle in Central California, graduating from Atwater High School in 1983. Coach Petty continued his education at Fresno State University, where he initially earned a B.S. in Business Administration and later a M.A in Education with an emphasis on Kinesiology. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for ten years as a helicopter pilot and qualified to try out for the All-Army Wrestling team.

VCS Celebrates 26 Retirees for 2022

The Valdosta Board of Education recognized 26 retirees from across the school district during their work session on May 24, 2022. Together, these outstanding men and women have spent an accumulated 547 years working with the boys and girls of Valdosta City Schools.

VCS School Nutrition Program to Offer Summer Meals

The School Nutrition Program of Valdosta City Schools will provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to all Valdosta City Schools students enrolled in Summer School or an extracurricular activity on all Valdosta City Schools campuses.

2022-2023 School Choice: HB 251 Window Opened on May 2

As the parent or guardian of a student currently enrolled in Valdosta City Schools, we are notifying you of your rights under House Bill 251 (HB 251).  This bill provides that students who reside within the Valdosta City Schools’ district may apply to transfer to schools deemed by the district to have adequate, permanent classroom space for the 2022 – 2023 school year. The school district will not provide transportation for students who elect to transfer under HB 251. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parents/guardians.
