For the past 10 years, Mr. Demetrius Searcy has been a steady and trusted cornerstone in our Maintenance Department. As an HVAC Technician, he plays a critical—often unseen—role in keeping our schools safe, comfortable, and ready for learning. His work ensures that thousands of students and staff can focus on teaching and learning in an environment that supports success.
His supervisor, Jack Cook, describes him as having “a calm, but strong spirit that leads by example.” Mr. Searcy completes every task with excellence and is always the first to step in and help coworkers on projects beyond his regular responsibilities. His servant leadership shines through in everything he does.
Teachers across the district consistently praise his reliability, professionalism, and warm personality. Whether he’s fixing a complicated issue or answering a quick call for help, he’s known for his positivity, quick wit, and ability to turn stressful moments into manageable ones.
For his decade of dedicated service, unwavering commitment to our schools, and exceptional embodiment of the 3V Way, we are honored to recognize Mr. Demetrius Searcy as the Valdosta City Schools 3V Champion of the Month for December.
