Valdosta City Schools is proud to announce Kendrick Moody as the new principal of S.L. Mason Elementary School, effective July 2025.
A seasoned educator and leader, Moody brings over 20 years of experience in education, athletics, and school administration. He is also a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served six years before beginning his career in education.
Moody began his educational journey in Atkinson County Schools in 2004, where he taught and coached football, basketball, and track until 2011. He then moved to Brooks County Schools, serving as a basketball coach and later as an assistant principal from 2011 to 2013. Since 2013, he has been part of Valdosta City Schools as an assistant principal at Valdosta High School and has also served as the district's assistant athletic director.
A graduate of VHS, Moody is a proud Wildcat and former VHS athlete. He currently serves as the voice of the Valdosta Wildcats under the Friday night lights, where his energy and pride for the community are unmatched.
Moody holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Valdosta State University (2004), a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University (2007), and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University (2008).
“We are thrilled to name Mr. Moody as the next principal of S.L. Mason Elementary,” said Superintendent Dr. Craig Lockhart. “His leadership, passion for education, and deep connection to the Valdosta community make him a great choice to guide S.L. Mason into the future.”
Moody shared, “It is an incredible honor to serve as the next principal of S.L. Mason Elementary School. As a proud Wildcat, I am excited to continue serving the Valdosta community and look forward to working alongside the dedicated staff, students, and families of S.L. Mason.”
