Valdosta City Schools and S.L. Mason Elementary School were honored with the 2nd Annual Captain Ted Thomas Guardian Award during the Georgia Alliance of School Resource Officers and Educators (GASROE) School Safety Summit.
The award recognized the team’s heroic actions and unwavering commitment to protecting the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
Captain Ted Randall Thomas was a highly respected law enforcement officer and devoted youth advocate in Dougherty County, Georgia. After his passing in 2024, the Captain Ted Randall Thomas Foundation was established to preserve his legacy of service and provide scholarships to local students.
