The Valdosta City Schools 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Afterschool Program, which will provide supplemental academic and enrichment programming, held its first Parent Orientation on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Valdosta Performing Arts Center.

Parents were provided information on an overview of the program and expectations for all participants. Parents and students also participated in a Meet and Greet session where they met members of the 21st CCLC Afterschool Program team and their Site Managers (Dr. Brianna Shackelford-JL Newbern Site, Dr. Tonyour Alexander-WG Nunn Site, Mrs. Janee Jackson-JL Lomax Site, Mrs. Rejeana Wright-SL Mason Site, and Mrs. Terri Steward-VHS Site).

The orientation was facilitated by Dr. Marci Marshall, 21st CCLC Program Coordinator and Dr. Terrie Lockhart, Director of School Improvement and Accountability. Thanks and appreciation goes out to our Operations District Team, Dr. Tret Witherspoon, Deputy Supt., Mr. Travis Jones, Transportation Director, Chef Vanessa Hayes, Nutrition Director, and Director Sabrina Smith, Safety Director for sharing details on bus transportation, nutrition, and safety procedures to our parents and students. Over 300 families were provided dinners at the event with a special thank you to Chef Hayes and the Nutrition Department Team! The VCS CCLC Afterschool program will officially begin on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at all five sites.
