Today is AVID Day! We proudly celebrate AVID—Advancement Via Individual Determination! AVID was started in 1980 by teacher Mary Catherine Swanson at Clairemont High School in San Diego, California. AVID’s purpose is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college, careers, and success through organization, collaboration, critical thinking, and determination. Celebrate your goals, believe in yourself, and show your AVID spirit!
