UPDATE - AUGUST 30 at 6:46 PM:

Valdosta City Schools will remain closed through Monday, September 4 as our community works to clean up from the devastation caused by Hurricane Idalia.

We will continue to provide updates as quickly as we can but we ask for your patience as we also are dealing with connection issues.

Please stay off the roads and stay safe.

UPDATE - AUGUST 30 at 12:33 PM:

Valdosta City Schools will remain closed on Thursday, August 31, due to widespread power outages and trees down across Valdosta-Lowndes County. District staff have limited access to communication tools but will work closely with Lowndes County Emergency Management to provide updates.

All schools and offices of Valdosta City Schools will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 as we anticipate severe weather conditions associated with Hurricane Idalia.

Download our Valdosta City Schools app and turn on notifications to receive the latest information as it is sent out. It is available on the App Store or Google Play Store by searching Valdosta City Schools.   We also encourage our families to follow Lowndes County Emergency Management on Facebook at EMA Lowndes for up to date information as it pertains to Hurricane Idalia and its impacts to our immediate area.

After we assess impact on Wednesday, we will make decisions regarding the remainder of the week.
