Valdosta City Schools is proud to recognize Ms. Amiya Allen as the recipient of the Student Support Services Champion Award, honoring her compassion, initiative, and dedication to supporting students and families.
The Student Support Services Champion Award is a monthly recognition presented to a department team member who demonstrates exceptional dedication, collaboration, innovation, and service while making a meaningful difference in the lives of students, families, staff, and the community.
Although relatively new to the Student Support Services Department, Allen has already made a tremendous impact by putting the district’s 3V Way, Vision, Values, and Victory, into action.
Her commitment to Vision is reflected in the relationships she has established with community partners to better support students and families experiencing homelessness under the McKinney-Vento program. She is also developing new initiatives for Homeless Awareness Month to bring greater attention to the challenges these families face.
Allen demonstrates Values through her compassion, collaboration, and willingness to serve wherever she is needed. From assisting families with student enrollment to connecting them with essential community resources, she works to remove barriers that might otherwise prevent students from succeeding.
As one colleague shared, “Amiya has consistently shown that she has the best interests of our homeless students and families at heart.”
Her commitment to Victory is evident in her initiative to reestablish Cats’ Closet following its relocation, ensuring students and families continue to have access to clothing and other essential resources.
A recent graduate of Valdosta State University’s Master of Social Work program, Allen also dedicates her time to serving others through youth ministry and community involvement.
Valdosta City Schools extends its appreciation to community partners First Federal Savings and Loan and Texas Roadhouse for supporting this special recognition.
Congratulations, Ms. Allen! Thank you for demonstrating the power of Vision, Values, and Victory through your commitment to serving others.
BelieVe in the V!
