The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) has officially selected FranklinCovey Education’s Leader in Me® process as a State Model Program for Character Education, recognizing it as an exemplary, evidence-based framework for developing leadership, character, and life-readiness in students across Georgia’s K–12 schools.
Being named a State Model Program is a significant milestone—but what makes this especially meaningful for Valdosta City Schools is that the district demonstrated foresight in embracing the Leader in Me framework and its benefits for students, schools, and the community long before this statewide recognition.
Through strategic use of state character education resources and foundation-based funding, VCS has implemented a model that now serves as the standard for character education across Georgia’s public schools.
