Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Partners,

As we prepare for the upcoming **Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS)** beginning **April 20th**, we are excited to launch a special **Student Recognition Program** to celebrate both achievement *and* growth!

🌟 **We will recognize:**
✔️ Students scoring at **Level 3 (Proficient)** or **Level 4 (Distinguished)**
✔️ Students who show **academic growth** from previous performance

We believe growth matters just as much as achievement—and we want every student to feel confident, supported, and celebrated!

Help us build excitement by participating in our **GMAS Hype Station**:

👉 **Create a Sign**
Make a positive, encouraging sign to be displayed in the hallways during testing.

👉 **Write a Letter**

* Write a note to encourage *your child*
* Also write a note for a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade student

📬 Letters will be delivered during testing week!
*Be sure to include your child’s name, teacher, and grade level on the envelope.*

WG Nunn will be participating in a Coca-Cola Fundraiser. All proceeds will go towards various events at our school. The fundraiser ends on April 24th and all money needs to be turned in on that date to the child’s homeroom teacher or to the front office. Pickup will be on May 1st from 9AM-1PM. No sodas will go home with a child; they must be picked up from the school!!

🎉 WG Nunn Elementary is on fire with attendance! 🎉 During the week of March 16, 2026, an impressive 711 students showed up, showed out, and proved their commitment to learning. Even with challenging weather and seasonal illnesses, these students kept pushing forward and showing up for their education.

Their dedication speaks volumes. Their resilience sets the tone. And their effort deserves to be celebrated.

Faculty and staff at W.G. Nunn Elementary School received a small token of appreciation to recognize the incredible work they do each and every day. Teachers were gifted a bag of chips along with a keepsake Positive Potato, complete with an uplifting affirmation tucked inside.

It’s a fun reminder that our Faculty and Staff are truly Spud‑Tastic—and we’re grateful for the heart, dedication, and positivity they bring to our school community.

Valdosta City Schools will observe an Asynchronous Learning Day on March 13, 2026. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in parent-teacher conferences scheduled throughout the day.
Conferences will provide an opportunity to discuss the student’s academic progress, strengths, areas for improvement, and to review the School–Parent Compact and district policies.

Applications open on March 9 and are due on April 10. Be sure to mark your calendar for the VMS STEM Interest Meeting on March 13 and join us for the VMS STEAM Carnival on March 26! Also, be on the lookout for our VMS STEM Ambassadors as they visit VCS elementary schools to share what it’s like to be part of the VMS STEM Academy.
