Talk to you students!

Valdosta City Schools takes every potential threat to student and staff safety seriously. Late this afternoon, district officials were made aware of an online post suggesting possible violence toward our schools. We immediately contacted the Valdosta Police Department (VPD), and together we worked swiftly to identify and locate the individual responsible. The suspect is now in police custody and will face felony charges.

Let us be very clear, making a threat, even as a “joke,” is not a prank. It is a crime.

Every threat, whether online or in person, will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Those responsible will face serious legal and school disciplinary consequences, including potential expulsion and criminal prosecution.

We are grateful for our partnership with the Valdosta Police Department who responds immediately to every concern.

Safety remains the foundation of all that we do in Valdosta City Schools, and we will continue to take every precaution to protect our students, staff, and community.

Parents, please take time to talk with your children about the consequences of making or sharing threatening messages online. These actions can have life-changing impacts  for the student, their family, and the entire community.

We appreciate the ongoing support of our families, law enforcement, and community partners as we continue to work together to ensure that our schools remain safe places for teaching and learning.
