Our Valdosta City Schools staff—Gene Fandel, Dr. Christie Earle, Dr. Charity Kinneer, Alex Robinson, Andy Gibbs (Mayor Pro-Tem), and Clay Brindger—spent a productive day at the Georgia State Capitol advocating for our teachers, staff, and students.

This visit followed the great work of several VCS staff members—Gene Fandel, Royce Thomas, Jennifer Steedley, and Kiley Cashwell—who represented our district the week prior at the Lowndes County Bird Supper at the Capitol. Their efforts helped lay the groundwork for continued advocacy and strong relationships with our legislators.

We shared key priorities, including teacher retention, retirement, and salary concerns, and even left with “homework” from Representative Burchett.

A heartfelt thank you to Senator Goodman, Senator Billy Hickman, Senator Strickland, Representative Burchett, and Lt. Governor Burt Jones for taking the time to meet with us and engage in meaningful conversations that support public education.

Valdosta City Schools is proud to represent our teachers, staff, and students while keeping the district’s needs at the forefront.
