At the April 28, 2026 Valdosta Board of Education Work Session, we were proud to have Sandarrius Segura, a 7th grade student at J.L. Newbern Middle School, assist in calling the meeting to order.
As a valued member of the NICE Cadets program, Sandarrius is known for being respectful, dependable, and a strong student leader. He maintains good grades, sets high goals for himself, and consistently leads by example both inside and outside the classroom.
Through his role on the NICE Cadets Flag Team, Sandarrius helps properly raise and lower the American flag each day and also assists with new student orientations, helping others feel welcomed and supported. His willingness to serve, positive attitude, and school pride make him an outstanding representative of J.L. Newbern Middle School and Valdosta City Schools.
