The Valdosta City Schools Human Resources Department was recognized during the June 16, 2026, Board of Education meeting for earning two prestigious statewide awards from the Georgia Association of School Personnel Administrators (GASPA).
The department received the Gold Award for Excellence in Technology Advancements and the Silver Award for Excellence in Employee Benefits Processes, recognizing its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and exceptional service to employees across the district.
The Gold Award honors the Human Resources Department’s successful implementation of technology solutions that have modernized and streamlined operations. Through the transition of many Human Resources records and processes to a secure digital format, employees now have greater access to important documents and information without needing to visit the Human Resources office in person. These advancements have improved efficiency, accessibility, communication, and overall employee service.
Human Resources staff expressed their appreciation to Mr. Mullins and Dr. Earle for their partnership, expertise, and support in implementing and maintaining the technology systems that contributed to this recognition.
In addition, the department earned the Silver Award for Excellence in Employee Benefits Processes. This award recognizes the team’s dedication to providing employees with accurate information, timely assistance, and a seamless benefits experience. Managing employee benefits is a critical responsibility that directly impacts the well-being of faculty and staff throughout the district.
Special recognition was given to Mrs. Young and Mrs. Southall for their hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to ensuring employees receive the support they need when making important benefits decisions.
“These awards reflect the dedication, professionalism, and commitment to continuous improvement demonstrated by our Human Resources Department,” said Superintendent Dr. Craig Lockhart. “Their work behind the scenes supports every employee in our district and helps ensure Valdosta City Schools remains an excellent place to work and learn.”
The two statewide honors highlight the department’s ongoing efforts to provide outstanding service while embracing innovative solutions that support the employees who make a difference in the lives of Valdosta City Schools students each day.
