Members of the Valdosta City Schools Transportation Department recently attended the 2026 Georgia Association for Pupil Transportation (GAPT) Summer Conference and Trade Show on Jekyll Island, joining transportation professionals from across the state for a week of networking, professional development, and collaboration.
The annual conference provided attendees with opportunities to learn about the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in student transportation while connecting with colleagues and industry partners dedicated to safely transporting Georgia’s students each day.
Conference highlights included:
Educational sessions focused on student safety, leadership, transportation operations, compliance, and industry best practices.
A large vendor trade show featuring the latest school bus technology, safety equipment, software, and transportation innovations.
Networking opportunities with transportation directors, supervisors, mechanics, office staff, drivers, and vendors from across Georgia.
Recognition of outstanding transportation professionals and celebrations of achievements within Georgia’s pupil transportation community.
Election of the 2027 GAPT Executive Board, including President Jason Ayers, Vice President Kim Ellis, Professional Development Coordinator Sissy Summerville, Secretary Bernando Brown, and Past President Michael Powe.
Continued emphasis on professional growth through the renewed Southeastern Pupil Transportation Academy (SPTA), which focuses on developing future leaders in student transportation.
