Valdosta City Schools is celebrating the Class of 2026, which earned a 91.8% four-year graduation rate. The district exceeded Georgia’s statewide rate of 88.5% by 3.3 percentage points.
“We are proud of every student who crossed the stage and of the families, teachers, counselors and staff who helped them reach that moment,” said Valdosta City Schools Superintendent Dr. Craig D. Lockhart. “A graduation rate represents years of work, encouragement and persistence. We celebrate the Class of 2026 and remain committed to helping every student earn a diploma and leave us prepared for what comes next.”
At Valdosta High School, Principal Dr. Johnnie Marshall’s 3E Graduate Plan encourages students to prepare for one of three paths after graduation: enrolling in college or technical education, enlisting in the military or entering the workforce.
“We want every Wildcat to see a path forward and know that we will help them pursue it,” said Dr. Marshall. “Graduation opens the door to that next opportunity. I am proud of what our graduates have accomplished and grateful to the people who supported them along the way.”
Georgia calculates its four-year graduation rate using an adjusted cohort of students who enter ninth grade together, accounting for students who transfer in or out during the following years.
