Newbern Middle School will open this week at 9:30 a.m.
Breakfast will be served daily until 10:30 a.m.
Newbern Middle School Instructional Day this week will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Car riders should be picked up before 4 p.m.
Buses will most likely be running late this week. Please extend grace to our VCS bus drivers as they navigate safely this week.
Valdosta City Schools will be closed on Thursday, September 26, and Friday, September 27, 2024, due to Tropical Storm/Hurricane Helene. All after-school activities are canceled. A decision about Friday’s game against Camden County will be announced on Friday.
The VCS School Nutrition Program is preparing bagged meals for students to take home. After the storm, VCS personnel will assess facilities for any damage and provide updates on the return to school.

Valdosta City Schools will reopen on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
After thorough inspections of all VCS facilities, we have determined that we can safely resume operations and begin the 2024-25 school year despite the challenges posed by Tropical Storm Debby. Bringing everyone back into our buildings will ensure that students experiencing food insecurity have access to breakfast and lunch, as well as a cool, dry environment.
We recognize that Tropical Storm Debby has created ongoing difficulties for some. However, we believe that reopening our schools will provide essential support to students and their families as we collectively establish new routines for the academic year.
We appreciate your patience, support, and cooperation as we navigate these unexpected challenges, especially at the start of a school year that already presents its own set of hurdles. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our school system or your child’s school administration team for assistance.

Valdosta City Schools will remain closed through Tuesday, August 6, 2024 as our community works to recover from the damages caused by Tropical Storm Debby. Several members of the Wildcat family are still without power, as are some of our schools, and we have reports of water in some of our buildings.
We will continue to monitor further impacts of the storm as it is still slowly passing through our community. Please stay off the roads and stay safe.
All schools and offices of Valdosta City Schools will be closed on Monday, August 5, 2024, as we anticipate severe weather conditions associated with Tropical Storm Debby.
