This morning Sallas Mahone Elementary was awarded the 2024 Georgia's Military Flagship School Award!🎉 Thank you to Georgia's State School Superintendent, Dr. Richard Woods, and other representatives for traveling to our school and presenting this honorary award. This award recognizes schools that go above and beyond to provide a supportive environment for military students and families. Our military mentoring program was established in 2005 and was soon named the Scott Craven Program in 2006 following the death of one of the dedicated airmen who volunteered regularly with Sallas Mahone to ensure that our military children were taken care of during a parent's deployment. 🥼Congratulations to Sallas Mahone's Science Fair Winners and Honorable Mentions!🥼 Out of the 34 projects our volunteer judges were able to narrow down our winners to the following: 🥇1st Place-Millie Wolfe, 4th Grade 🥈2nd Place-Tirth Patel, 5th Grade 🥉3rd Place-Ty Ezzell, 4th Grade 🏆Honorable mentions: Ava Cannister, Madison Winterstein, Anna Cannister, Juliana Stubbs, Matthew Mullis, Drake Rohrback, Corbett Harless, Orazio Strealy, Kannon Howell, Rhett Welch, Ansley Bennett, and Zariah Weatherspoon. These individuals will be proceeding to our district level competition in May! We cannot thank all of our participants one final time! Parents of girls interested in middle school volleyball, mark your calendars for Monday, March 25, 2024 at 6:00 pm There will be an interest meeting held in the VMS Cafeteria where Coach Bryan Deal will discuss the sport, answer any questions and go over the volleyball tryout process. Sallas Mahone attended the Tome Society Student Conference last Tuesday and they had a blast! 📚 Out of 53 teams, Sallas Mahone came in second place🥈....whoo hoo! We are extremely proud of our students. There were over 1600 students in attendance. Students were also able to meet four of their seven authors, take pictures with them and learn more about the writing process. We are looking forward to next year's conference!🏆

📢🍪Cookie Dough Pick-Up will be TOMORROW, Wed., March 13th, 3:30-5:30 PM📢 THANK YOU to all of our families who sold items to support SME! You can pull up to the bus loading area (beside the awning) or park in the large parking lot beside the gym. Then, you will walk inside the gym to pick up your order. Each day is designated to express how wild we are about reading! 📚The Spring Book Fair is coming!📚 Sallas Mahone's book fair will be open this Saturday, March 2nd from 10 AM-12 PM. The book fair will then be open the entire week, Monday-Friday, March 4th-8th during school hours. Please come and shop with your child on Saturday or allow your child to shop during the week!
