VCS assistant finance director, Kiley Cashwell, was awarded a $3,000 grant for the VCS Books for Christmas Program from the Kiwanis Club of Valdosta. Club president, Dr. Alex Alvarez, awarded the grant in August as part of the Club's 2022 $65,000 community grant awards initiative for the Valdosta community. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.


VMS STEM Academy coach, Dr. Matt Cribbs, was awarded a $5,000 grant for the purchase of a greenhouse for Valdosta Middle from the Kiwanis Club of Valdosta. Valdosta City Schools educators are becoming more knowledgeable to support other educators with implementing high-impact reading strategies through Reading Horizons.
They are now certified district facilitators to support the science of reading within VCS classrooms. We are continuing our journey to help every student be a successful reader.
